Why should you donate?

We believe we have several comparative advantages:

First, the project we are involved with is very specific. We recognize that disaster relief is complex and demanding and we have limited expertise and resources. That’s why we have chosen to focus on rebuilding a single school specifically. Our major involvement initially will be raising enough money for building the school. Once the money is raised and transferred, we will shift focus to monitoring the rebuilding process and hence the use of funds, as well as keeping donors informed.  After the school has been rebuilt, we will focus on developing a long term relationship with the school and the students.

Second, we have our local contact in Shifang, including key local government officials, who will inspect the rebuilding process at different stages and also monitor the use of the donated money in this process. We will communicate with our local contact constantly to get updates on the project, and will in turn update our donors of the development at ground zero.

Third, our involvement does not stop at rebuilding the school. We intend to foster a long term relationship with the school and the students. We will consider, for example, sending volunteer teachers, supporting the training of the school’s teachers, organizing student exchange programs, and setting up scholarships to support students from low income families. If requested, we will also facilitate direct communications between the students and interested donors.

Fourth, all of our people who work on this project are volunteers who do not receive any payment for their work. As a result, our operating expense is very low and is close to zero.

为什么捐款？

首先，我们选择的这个项目非常具体。赈灾是一件复杂、耗时耗力的事情，而我们的资源和能力有限。因此我们选择将资源集中在一个具体的单一学校上。第一步是要募集到足够的资金，待资金到位后，我们会将注意力集中到对重建过程的监控和资金的具体使用，同时将进展情况反馈给每一位捐赠者。   

其次，我们在当地有联系人，并与相关政府部门有较深的人际关系。这将非常有利于我们对重建过程和资金使用的监控。我们可以及时从地方联络人获取第一手信息，从而减小各种风险。   

第三，我们的项目在重建完成之后并未结束，我们还计划设计一些项目，建立与该校师生的长期联系。比如，我们可以选派义务人员在寒暑期到学校参与老师的培训，也可以组织和学生的各种交流，或者设立各种类型的奖助学金，资助贫困学生等。   

最后，我们所有参与项目的工作人员都是志愿者，不收取任何报酬。所以，您的每一分捐款都将用于学校的重建。
